(Co-Founder)
Chief Operations & Experience Officer, San Francisco Giants
Alfonso Felder is an accomplished executive with nearly three decades of leadership experience in operations, urban planning, and community development. As the Chief Operations & Experience Officer for the San Francisco Giants, Felder oversees Ballpark Operations, Event Strategy and Services, Guest Services, and Giants Enterprises.
His role extends to managing the team’s spring training operations in Scottsdale, Arizona, where he leads the Giants’ relationship with the City of Scottsdale and spearheads the development of the team’s state-of-the-art minor league training complex at Papago Park in Phoenix.
A member of the Giants’ executive leadership team, Felder plays a critical role in driving strategic organizational initiatives and is a key figure in the Mission Rock development project—one of San Francisco’s most ambitious mixed-use waterfront developments.
Felder’s career with the Giants began nearly 29 years ago, when he joined the front office staff after having served as a 16-year-old usher at Candlestick Park. He played a pivotal role in the planning and construction of Oracle Park, including developing the original transportation plan that continues to serve as a model for large-scale event planning today. His operational oversight includes the stadium’s capital improvement projects, such as the creation of the Gotham Club, the Garden at Oracle Park, and the new bleacher bullpens. Felder also served as the point person for hosting major events, including the 2007 Major League Baseball All-Star Game and the World Baseball Classic in both 2006 (Scottsdale) and 2013 (San Francisco).
A native San Franciscan, Felder earned his bachelor’s degree in Urban Studies from Harvard University and is a graduate of UC Berkeley. He is also an alumnus of City Year, the national service program based in Boston.
In addition to his professional accomplishments, Felder has a long history of civic engagement. He is the co-founder and President of the San Francisco Neighborhood Theater Foundation, the nonprofit organization responsible for the preservation and revitalization of iconic venues such as the Vogue Theatre and the Balboa Theatre. The foundation also produces San Francisco’s longest-running outdoor film series.
Felder resides in San Francisco with his wife, Tara, and their two sons, Leo and Max.
